Two Dead, Several Injured in Kormantse Highway Crash

Two people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following a fatal accident on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway at Kormantse on Saturday.

According to the Mankessim Fire Rescue Team, the crash occurred when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (registration number AS 4146-25) heading towards Accra collided head-on with a Hino truck(registration number GW 5958-25) traveling in the opposite direction.

Most passengers managed to escape with the help of passersby, but two victims who were trapped in the wreckage were extricated by the rescue team and pronounced dead.

Several of the injured were rushed to the Saltpond Government Hospital for treatment.

The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into the incident, though eyewitnesses suspect that wrongful overtaking may have caused the collision.
