Ministry of Sports and Recreation has authorized a $1.12 million budget to support the Black Stars as they prepare for their final two qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The funding, approved this month, will cover costs associated with Ghana’s upcoming fixtures against the Central African Republic and Comoros, which will determine the national team’s fate in the qualifying campaign. The Black Stars are slated to play the Central African Republic on October 8 in Casablanca, followed by a home match against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.
According to officials, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted its financial estimates for the two-match engagement on September 18. The Ministry reviewed the request and forwarded it to the Office of the President on September 19 for final clearance.
The projected $1.12 million expenditure includes $733,000 for the away fixture in Morocco and $387,000 for hosting duties in Accra.
The allocation underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the national team’s World Cup ambitions as Ghana seeks a return to the global tournament.
