Prioritise Peace and Unity – Yaa Naa Urges New Paramount Chief of Tatale Sanguli

The King of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, has called on the newly enskinned Paramount Chief of the Tatale Sanguli Traditional AreaNakpale Bore Dawuni Atta Nkaraa II, to prioritise peace, unity, and reconciliation as the foundation for development in his community.

The Yaa Naa gave the counsel on Friday, September 5, 2025, when the new Paramount Chief, accompanied by sub-chiefs and residents of Tatale Sanguli, paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa Palace.

Addressing the delegation, the Overlord of Dagbon reminded the Paramount Chief that chieftaincy positions often attract multiple contenders. He therefore urged him to put past divisions aside and bring all stakeholders together for the progress of Tatale Sanguli.

“Once a leader is chosen, all parties must rally behind that choice. I urge you to embrace your former rivals and work with them for the development of the traditional area,” the Yaa Naa said.

He also encouraged the new Paramount Chief to work closely with the District Chief Executive and the District Security Council to safeguard peace and stability in the district.

In his remarks, Nakpale Bore Dawuni Atta Nkaraa II expressed gratitude to the Yaa Naa for his guidance and pledged to champion peace, unity, and development in Tatale Sanguli.

“We are here today to thank the Overlord for the gift of leadership he has given us. Development is what we seek, and peace and unity are the keys to achieving it,” he said.

The Paramount Chief further appealed to government and development partners to invest in the district’s vast agricultural potential and natural resources, particularly highlighting the Sheini diamond deposits as a key asset that could transform the local economy.

The visit concluded with assurances of loyalty and a renewed commitment to peace and progress in the Tatale Sanguli Traditional Area.
