The Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service has carried out a two-day patrol and community engagement exercise in Bole and surrounding areas from September 5 to 6, 2025.
The operation, aimed at enforcing the ongoing curfew and ensuring public safety, was conducted peacefully and with cooperation from residents.
On the night of September 5, eighty-nine police personnel were deployed under the leadership of ASP Bawa Jalil, Head of Operations – Special Operations Team, Bole. The patrols, which covered Bole Township and nearby border communities, focused on increasing police visibility, deterring crime, and responding swiftly to potential threats. Reports indicated that all areas visited remained calm and orderly throughout the exercise.
On September 6, the Special Operations Team turned its attention to community engagement, visiting neighbourhoods and interacting with residents, market women, vendors, business owners, and traditional leaders. The outreach sought to gather feedback on the curfew and its impact on daily life.
Residents generally acknowledged improved security and peace under the curfew but raised concerns about its economic and social impact, particularly on evening trading and livelihoods.
In a meeting with the Chief Imam of Bole and his elders, religious leaders commended the professionalism of the police but appealed for a review of the curfew hours, citing disruptions to dawn and evening prayers.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to preserving peace and protecting lives and property. It assured that feedback gathered during the engagement would be considered in future reviews of curfew enforcement in the Bole area.
