The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has called for unity and discipline within the party as it seeks to present itself as a credible alternative to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra on Saturday, Mr Kodua said Ghanaians are ready to return the NPP to power, but only if the party overcomes internal divisions and presents a united front.
“Ghanaians are looking for alternatives and want to come back to the NPP,” he said. “They know our government offered better solutions to their problems.”
Mr Kodua stressed that disunity and internal conflict risk damaging the party’s credibility in opposition, urging members to set aside personal agendas and work towards a common goal.
“At the end of the day, they want to vote for an opposition party that is ready for power,” he noted.
He called on party members to rise above factionalism and focus on what he described as rescuing Ghanaians from economic hardship and mismanagement under the current NDC administration led by President John Dramani Mahama.
“We must show Ghanaians that we are a proper, responsible, and viable opposition party,” he added.
The conference brought together party delegates from across the country as the NPP begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
