Panic gripped residents of Darkuman Kokompe in Accra on Sunday, August 31, 2025, when fire swept through several houses in the area.
The dawn blaze sent thick clouds of smoke into the sky, forcing families to rush out of their homes in a desperate attempt to save personal belongings.
Many looked on helplessly as the flames consumed property.
As of mid-morning, firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service were yet to arrive, leaving residents battling the fire on their own.
The cause of the outbreak is still unknown, though no casualties have been reported.
