Okada Rider Dies in Hit-and-Run at Tetegu

A commercial motorbike rider has been killed in a hit-and-run accident involving a passenger bus, popularly known as a trotro, at Tetegu on the Accra–Kasoa highway.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when the speeding bus crashed into the motorbike, which was carrying a passenger. The impact killed the rider on the spot, while the passenger sustained severe injuries but survived.

Eyewitnesses say the driver of the trotro fled the scene immediately after the collision, despite being aware of the casualties.

Police officers later moved the body of the deceased to the mortuary, while the injured passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Colleagues of the late rider, who operated his motorcycle transport business at Old Barrier along the Kasoa road, described him as hardworking and dedicated. His sudden death has left fellow riders in shock, with many lamenting what they call an avoidable tragedy caused by reckless driving.
