NPP to Consider Key Constitutional Reforms at July 19 Conference

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its upcoming Annual Delegates Conference, slated for Saturday, July 19, will focus on major constitutional reforms, including recommendations from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report and an outstanding proposal from the party’s 2019 Delegates Conference held in Kumasi.

Although the 2019 reform received prior approval, it is only now being formally presented for deliberation and possible adoption.

Speaking at a press briefing ahead of the conference, NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, explained that the proposed reforms are intended to strengthen the party’s internal structures and strategically position it for victory in the 2028 general elections.

“That report, which has a package of amendments…and proposals resulting from the reports from the Mike Oquaye Committee and other amendments submitted by the party members, is part of the bundle of amendments that this conference will consider,” he stated.

The conference will be held under the theme, “Rebuilding Together With Our Values.”

Mr. Ahiagbah acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team, led by Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu and supported by Henry Nana Boakye, commending them for their dedication and hard work behind the scenes.

“We thank them and the many other people who are behind the scenes supporting and working tirelessly, and their efforts and insights have resulted in what we have today, which we believe is a theme that will drive the NPP to the kind of rebuilding that we are looking for,” he added.
