The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has granted a general amnesty to all members who have been suspended or are facing disciplinary proceedings.
In a statement dated August 16, 2025, and signed by Acting National Chairman, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, the party announced that the decision was taken during an emergency National Council meeting held on July 25.
According to the NPP, the move is intended to foster unity and reconciliation within the party.
“We hereby serve notice that this directive lifts all such suspensions and waives any ongoing proceedings against affected members,” the statement read.
The party clarified, however, that individuals who forfeited their membership must reapply for reinstatement at the national secretariat. Upon reinstatement, such members will not be eligible to contest internal elections for a two-year period.
Regional and constituency executives were also cautioned to strictly adhere to laid-down procedures in disciplinary cases and avoid arbitrary suspensions.
The statement concluded that the amnesty underscores the NPP’s commitment to internal cohesion ahead of upcoming political activities.
