NPP Bans All Campaign Materials Ahead of 2025 Delegates Conference

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a sweeping ban on all campaign-related materials at its upcoming 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference.

Set to take place on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, the highly anticipated conference is expected to draw thousands of delegates from across the country. But this year, there’ll be no sea of banners, posters, branded T-shirts, or flashy billboards promoting aspiring candidates. Not even a flyer.

“There shall be no billboards, banners, posters, flyers, T-shirts, or souvenirs with aspirant branding allowed at the venue or within Accra,” said Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the National Planning Committee, during a press briefing on Saturday. “A complete ban has been placed on all forms of campaign activities.”

The zero-tolerance directive covers the period before, during, and after the conference, and includes both the stadium and its surrounding areas. To enforce it, the NPP has formed a special operations and compliance team to patrol the grounds. Any banned materials spotted will be swiftly removed—and destroyed.
The decision,Mr. Osei-Owusu explained, is designed to ensure fairness and neutrality as the party gears up for key internal decisions. It’s also a clear message: the focus is on strategy and solidarity, not political showmanship.

With factions forming around potential presidential hopefuls and parliamentary contenders, the party’s leadership appears keen to avoid any public displays that might deepen internal divides—or distract from the party’s long-term goals.
