A court in Accra has adjourned proceedings in the ongoing murder case involving Bright Aweh, the prime suspect in the death of 38-year-old Stephen Amoah, a man initially reported missing earlier this month.
The adjournment was confirmed during a court session held on Thursday, July 28, as police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding Amoah’s tragic death. Aweh remains in police custody.
What was originally treated as a kidnapping case has since been reclassified as a homicide, prompting the transfer of the case from the Kwabenya Circuit Court to the Kaneshie District Court, which holds broader jurisdiction over serious criminal offences.
Stephen Amoah was last seen on July 3 after he reportedly left home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. His burned remains were discovered five days later at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya.
Investigators believe Bright Aweh was the last known person to have communicated with Amoah prior to his disappearance, making him the primary suspect in the case.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and court proceedings resume.
