President John Dramani Mahama is set to break ground Tuesday on a major infrastructure upgrade in the Greater Accra Region, marking the latest phase of his administration’s flagship "Big Push" development agenda.
At 1 p.m. , Mr. Mahama will officially launch construction of the long-anticipated Dodowa-Afienya-Dawhenya road during a ceremony in Afienya, according to a statement from the presidency. Officials said additional road corridors beyond the initial project stretch are under consideration for future development.
Following the Greater Accra event, the president will travel to the Volta Region for a second sod-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. There, he will initiate work on the Atimpoku-Asikuma-Anyrawase-Ho-Denu-Aflao road network — a key east-west artery expected to enhance connectivity across southern Ghana.
The roadworks form a central plank of the Big Push project, an ambitious government initiative aimed at boosting economic growth through strategic infrastructure investments ahead of the 2028 election cycle.
