A high-level delegation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has visited the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters to express condolences over the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including five members of the NDC.
The NPP team was led by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua and National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, among other executives.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Boakye popularly known as Nana B said the tragedy had touched the entire nation, transcending political divisions.
“We are one family, and when something happens to the NDC, it affects us too. This is not just an NDC loss, but a national one. We are here in solidarity, and we offer our deepest condolences,” he stated.
NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah expressed appreciation for the NPP’s gesture, noting that while most of the victims were NDC officials, they were first and foremost Ghanaians.
“Your presence here is a testament that this issue goes beyond party lines and should not be politicised,” he said, adding that he had received calls from both current and former NPP leaders, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, after the incident.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah stressed that the tragedy should serve as a reminder of national unity.
“Though this is a tragedy that has befallen us all, it also presents an opportunity for unity. Your presence here is a sign of the love we share as Ghanaians,” he added.
