Gender Ministry, Police Pursue Arrest of Dismissed KNUST SHS Assistant Headmaster

The  Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection is actively collaborating with law enforcement to arrest Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the recently dismissed Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, after a disturbing video allegedly showing him in a compromising situation with a female student went viral.

Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Gender Minister, made the revelation on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, during a working visit by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

“Even though GES has dismissed him, we’re working with the police to ensure his arrest,” Dr. Lartey stated, referring to the swift disciplinary action taken by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on September 29, 2025.

The footage, which circulated widely on social media, has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for accountability in schools. While the GES has acted promptly in removing Aidoo from his position, the Gender Ministry says the matter goes beyond administrative action — and into the realm of criminal justice.

“This is about protecting children. It’s about ensuring that those in positions of power who abuse that trust are held fully accountable,” Dr. Lartey emphasized.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations, particularly minors, and ensuring that allegations of abuse are not buried under bureaucratic responses.

The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities say they are moving to bring formal charges.
