Ablekuma North: Calm Restored as Voting Resumes at St. Peter’s Polling Station

Voting activities have resumed at the St. Peter’s Polling Station in the Ablekuma North constituency following a brief disruption during Friday’s parliamentary rerun.

The interruption occurred when a group of unidentified men stormed the polling centre, physically assaulting several individuals, including New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Afriyie and former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson. The attack forced a temporary suspension of the voting process.

Citi News confirmed that both women were injured during the incident.

Security at the polling station has since been reinforced, allowing the voting process to continue without further incident.

The rerun was necessitated by legal and procedural challenges that have left the constituency without parliamentary representation since last year. Despite the NPP’s official boycott of the election.
