WASSCE: WAEC seizes invigilator’s phone at Armed Forces SHTS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has seized a mobile phone belonging to an invigilator, Bright Amoah, at the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in Burma Camp, Accra.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, during a monitoring exercise as candidates sat for their first major paper, Social Studies.

According to WAEC, the device allegedly contained already-solved questions from the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The phone was also found to have material from the Oral English and Picture Making papers, which had already been written.

While the examinations in question had been completed, WAEC suspects possible irregularities and has taken the matter up for investigation.

The Examination Centre Supervisor has been directed to file a detailed report on why an invigilator was in possession of a mobile phone in the exam hall—a violation of WAEC regulations.
