A significant fire broke out at the Accra Tourist Information Centre in the early hours of Monday, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
According to a GNFS statement, the fire was reported at precisely 01:02 a.m., and the first fire engine dispatched from the GNFS National Headquarters arrived on the scene within two minutes, at 01:04 a.m.
Reinforcements were quickly deployed from additional stations, including Flagstaff House, Circle, Accra City, and the Ministries, along with a Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) from headquarters.
Firefighters worked for over two hours to bring the blaze under control, successfully extinguishing it at 03:32 a.m.
Even after the fire was contained, crews remained on-site to conduct extensive mop-up operations and ensure no remaining hotspots threatened nearby structures.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are set to begin soon.
