NDC Welcomes NPP's Reset as Support for Mahama’s National Rebuilding Agenda

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed a recent internal overhaul within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as a timely “reset” that may contribute to broader national progress under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Ludwig Hlodze, the NDC’s Director of Logistics and Protocol, commended the NPP’s efforts to reassess its policy posture and strategic direction. Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra on Saturday, July 19, Mr. Hlodze characterized the move as an important step toward constructive opposition and a potentially stabilizing force in Ghana’s political landscape.

“The country Ghana is going through a reset process. It is very important that we as political parties reset our ideas, policies, and programmes,” Mr. Hlodze said.

He added that the NDC is encouraged by the NPP’s recalibration, viewing it as a constructive development in Ghana’s post-election environment.

“That is why we are happy that the biggest opposition party in our country is doing exactly that—to reset and play their role with constructive criticism to support the nation builder, John Mahama, to rebuild the Ghana we all want,” he said.

The NPP’s conference—convened under the banner “Rebuilding Together with Our Values”—marks a pivotal moment for the party following its defeat in the 2024 general election. The event focused on internal governance, constitutional amendments, and broader efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2028 electoral cycle.

The NDC’s remarks reflect an emerging tone of political pragmatism and acknowledgment of the role a revitalized opposition can play in policy refinement and national cohesion.
