NDC Concludes Campaign in Akwatia With Final Rally Ahead of By-Election

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) wrapped up its campaign in the Akwatia constituency Sunday with a final rally at the Boadua Lorry Station, just days ahead of a closely watched by-election scheduled for September 2.

The event drew hundreds of energized supporters clad in party colors, as the NDC sought to bolster momentum for its parliamentary candidate, Bernard Bediako Baidoo. The rally, punctuated by live music and political chants, marked the culmination of weeks of campaigning in the Eastern Region constituency.

Top party officials, including NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and the  Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, headlined the rally and delivered messages aimed at solidifying voter confidence. “This is a vote for real development and responsive leadership,” Mr. Nketiah told the crowd. He urged constituents to back the NDC as a pathway to economic and social progress.

Mr. Baidoo, the candidate vying to recapture the traditionally competitive seat for the NDC, expressed gratitude for the turnout and pledged to represent the community with “honesty, accessibility, and dedication” if elected.

The by-election, triggered by the vacancy of the parliamentary seat, is being closely monitored as a potential bellwether for broader political sentiment ahead of the 2028 general elections.
