'Mona Gucci Fires Back at MC Yaa Yeboah Over Comments on Malik Basintale: "You're an Educated Illiterate"

Ghanaian media personality Mona Gucci has responded sharply to entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah over recent remarks made about Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

During a panel discussion on UTV's United Showbiz on July 12, 2025, Yaa Yeboah weighed in on the violence that occurred during the Ablekuma North election rerun. She suggested that Malik Basintale, through a series of social media posts, may have indirectly encouraged political thuggery.

“Some of the tweets by notable political figures appeared to incite electoral violence. That’s unacceptable. These actions can destroy families — people are recruiting others' breadwinners to engage in violence. It’s a serious issue,” Yaa Yeboah said.

Her comments have since sparked backlash from Mona Gucci, who took to social media to defend Basintale and rebuke the pundit in strong terms.

In a video shared online, Mona Gucci described Yaa Yeboah as "an educated illiterate," criticizing her for making uninformed statements on live television.

“How dare you? If you don’t have the facts, stay quiet instead of sitting on national TV to speak nonsense,” she said. “You come across as eloquent and polished, but that doesn’t mean you’re intelligent. You're actually an educated illiterate.”

She continued, “Don’t sit on live television and disrespect Malik Basintale. We won’t tolerate that. Don’t make that mistake again.”

Mona Gucci further warned Yaa Yeboah to refrain from making further comments about Basintale, saying, “You are a nobody, so don't speak about Malik in that manner. If you won’t apologize, then simply stop mentioning his name.”

She also raised concerns about the potential consequences of Yaa Yeboah’s comments, cautioning that such remarks could incite public anger.

“Your words could provoke people, and if something happens to you in public, Malik won’t be there to help. I believe that if he had been present during the violence, he would’ve intervened to stop it,” she added.

The exchange has stirred debate online, with social media users weighing in on both sides of the controversy.
