KNUST to Close on Thursday in Honour of Late Asantehemaa

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced that it will suspend all academic and administrative activities on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in honour of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The decision follows a directive from the Manhyia Palace, which has instructed shops, schools, and corporate institutions across Kumasi to close as part of arrangements for the queen mother’s final burial rites.

In a statement, the University informed staff, students, and the campus community that all offices will remain closed on Thursday. Shops and commercial entities operating within the university are also expected to comply with the directive.

Normal academic and administrative work is scheduled to resume on Friday, September 19, 2025.
