Ken Agyapong Enters NPP Flagbearer Race, Picks Nomination Forms

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a former  lawmaker and businessman, has formally picked up nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The announcement, made Tuesday,August 5 in a Facebook post by his campaign spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, signals Agyapong’s continued ambition to lead the center-right party after a spirited bid in the 2024 primaries.

“Official Update, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has officially picked nomination forms to contest in the 2026 NPP Flagbearership race,” the statement reread.

Mr. Agyapong, who previously represented Assin Central in Parliament for over two decades, is positioning himself as a candidate of “discipline, patriotism, and economic transformation”—themes that formed the cornerstone of his previous campaign.

His entry into the race is expected to further intensify the competition within the NPP, as the party prepares to select a successor to lead its charge in the 2028 polls.
