A 26-year-old seamstress, Mabel Asantewaa, has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend in a shocking incident at Chinese Down, near the Kasoa toll booth, in the early hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
The suspect, identified only as Sammy, aged 27, allegedly stabbed Mabel multiple times in the neck during a confrontation around 4:30 a.m. According to eyewitnesses, he later attempted to resuscitate her but failed. He then ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide attempt.
A neighbour told reporters that Sammy eventually called for help, prompting residents to break into the room. They discovered Mabel lying naked in a pool of blood on the floor, while Sammy was found on the bed in critical condition.
The landlord was immediately informed and subsequently alerted police officers at Tuba. Sammy was rushed to the Amanfrom Polyclinic, where he is currently receiving treatment under police guard.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, while Mabel’s body has been taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
