‘How dare you, who are you!?’ – Nana Akomea, Kwesi Pratt Clash Over Hawa Koomson on Live Radio

A heated confrontation broke out on Peace FM’s morning show on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, between Nana Akomea, former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jr., Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, during a live panel discussion on the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

The exchange, which began as a conversation on the violence that marred the July 11 rerun—particularly the reported assault of former Awutu Senya East MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson—quickly spiraled into a tense war of words between the two political commentators.

Kwesi Pratt, known for his candid critiques, pointed fingers at the former MP, accusing her of having a track record of inciting political unrest.

“She foments trouble wherever she goes,” Pratt claimed, prompting an immediate and sharp rebuttal from Nana Akomea, who strongly objected to what he described as a defamatory remark.

“This is character assassination. You’re stigmatizing her unfairly,” said Akomea, a former Managing Director of the State Transport Company. The conversation swiftly escalated into a loud and combative argument, with both men talking over each other and hurling accusations.

Pratt fired back, saying, “Your behavior on this programme is becoming unacceptable.” Akomea, visibly agitated, retorted: “You are deciding over my behavior? How dare you? You are stigmatizing the woman.”

The clash intensified further when Pratt accused Akomea of dominating the conversation: “Your behaviour is repugnant; you don’t allow anybody to talk around this table.” Akomea responded in kind: “You can’t just say anything and then deny it when challenged. This is complete misbehavior.”

Akomea went on to accuse Pratt of disrespecting fellow panelists and disrupting civil discourse. “You show a lot of disrespect to your colleague panelists and you must stop that,” he charged.

But Pratt remained unyielding. “You don’t respect yourself at all. I’ve tolerated you for far too long. You’re not the one to tell me how to talk,” he retorted.

The fiery back-and-forth prompted host Kwame Sefa Kayi to intervene. Stepping in with authority, he called both men to order, warning that the discussion had veered off track.

“You are out of order,” he said, rebuking the pair. Turning specifically to Akomea, he added: “I think respectfully you have been unfair to Kwesi. You have heckled him too much. You have done enough, please stop it.”
