Helicopter Crash: Bodies Retrieved from Brofoyedru Sikaman Under Tight Security

The remains of all eight victims involved in the Ghana Air Force helicopter crash are currently being transported from the Dampia Range Forest Reserve, near Brofoyedru Sikaman, in the Adansi Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

A heavy security presence has been established in the area, with military and police personnel deployed to oversee the retrieval operation and ensure public order. Several ambulances and military vehicles were seen leaving the crash site under tight escort.

Despite restricted access to the immediate area, scores of local residents gathered nearby, drawn by the tragic scene. Many onlookers were visibly emotional as the body bags were carefully loaded into the waiting vehicles.

The ill-fated military helicopter was carrying five high-ranking government officials and three Air Force crew members on a flight from Accra to Obuasi when it went down. Authorities have confirmed that there were no survivors.

Among the deceased are:

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence

Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Science and Technology

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Mayor of Kumasi

Mr. Samuel Aboagye – Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East

The Air Force personnel who perished in the crash include:

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu

Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

Officials have described the incident as a national tragedy, with investigations already underway to determine the cause of the crash.
