Health Minister Collaborates with Police to Improve Security at Public Hospitals

Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, says the government is working with the police to strengthen security at public hospitals across the country.

The move comes after an alleged attack on health workers at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, reportedly led by activist Ralph St Williams.

Speaking to TV3 in Accra on Monday, Mr Akandoh said the incident had prompted urgent discussions on protecting both medical staff and patients.

"We are putting measures in place with the Ghana Police Service. Incidents like this influence policy, and we are now considering broader security arrangements beyond just Ridge Hospital," he said.

The minister added that the rollout would involve collaboration with District Chief Executives, local health directors, and the police, to ensure swift security response at health facilities when needed.
