The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has announced plans to host a National Agribusiness Dialogue on Monday, July 28, aimed at shaping a comprehensive policy framework that directly responds to the needs of stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday, July 25, Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare revealed that the initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry and Agri-Impact, a leading consultancy firm in the agribusiness sector.
“We are partnering with Agri-Impact, and they are key players in agribusiness consultancy. Together, we’re bringing all stakeholders across the industry to the table for this important national dialogue,” the Minister said.
The dialogue, scheduled to take place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, will bring together farmers, processors, exporters, researchers, policymakers, and development partners to share ideas and co-develop a practical policy framework.
Minister Ofosu-Adjare stressed the importance of a bottom-up approach to policy formulation, noting that policies built on stakeholder input are more likely to succeed.
“This dialogue is about building a policy from the ground up — one that truly reflects the needs and realities of people working within the agricultural sector,” she explained. “When stakeholders are part of the process, they are more likely to take ownership, which ultimately makes implementation easier and more effective.”
She added that the government is committed to aligning policy direction with the aspirations of agribusiness actors, from smallholder farmers to large-scale investors.
The event will also feature former President John Dramani Mahama as Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the government’s commitment to elevating agribusiness as a national development priority.
The upcoming dialogue is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Ghana’s agribusiness roadmap and unlocking opportunities for investment, innovation, and inclusive growth in the sector.
