The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the licence of Evanex Gold Enterprise, a licensed Tier 2 gold buyer, with immediate effect.
The regulator said the decision follows adverse investigative findings which revealed that the company was engaged in illegal gold pricing, in violation of the terms and conditions of its licence.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 28, GoldBod directed all licensed traders, miners, and the general public to refrain from conducting any form of gold transaction with Evanex Gold Enterprise.
According to the regulator, the move forms part of broader efforts to sanitise the gold trading sector and safeguard industry standards.
“Notice is hereby given to all licensed traders, miners, and the general public to desist from trading and/or engaging in any form of gold transaction with Evanex Gold Enterprise forthwith,” the statement said.
GoldBod further emphasised that the findings against Evanex were serious enough to warrant immediate suspension, cautioning that any operator found engaging in similar breaches would face comparable sanctions.
The regulator reaffirmed its commitment to promoting accountability and transparency in the management of Ghana’s gold sector, assuring stakeholders of its resolve to strictly enforce existing laws and regulations to maintain a fair, credible, and well-regulated gold trading environment.
