The reigning Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) Queen, Nihad Titiaka Oases Ibrahim, has paid a courtesy call on former President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, where she presented her flagship initiative, “Empowering Communities for Climate Action.”
Describing the meeting as “a truly unforgettable moment,” Queen Nihad said the encounter symbolized not only her personal achievement but also a broader commitment to community empowerment and climate resilience.
A Milestone for the Savannah Region
Queen Nihad expressed deep gratitude to the former President for the encouragement he extended during the GMB competition—support she believes contributed to her victory. Her win marked the first time the prestigious crown was brought to the Savannah Region, a feat she described as both personal and collective.
“This milestone was not just a personal victory but also a collective one for my region, and I remain forever grateful,” she said.
Championing Sustainable Communities
At the center of discussions was Queen Nihad’s advocacy project, “Empowering Communities for Climate Action.” The initiative focuses on climate education, tree planting, recycling, waste management, clean cooking solutions, and the construction of a three-unit classroom block in the Savannah Region.
She appealed for the former President’s guidance and support to expand the project’s impact nationwide, stressing that Ghana’s future depends on sustainable development strategies that bring together leadership, youth innovation, and grassroots participation.
Inspired by Leadership
Reflecting on the engagement, the former UPSA SRC Women’s Commissioner lauded Mr. Mahama’s dedication to national development, describing him as a source of inspiration.
“His Excellency’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to national development continue to inspire me deeply. It strengthens my resolve to keep working towards a greener, more sustainable future for Ghana and beyond,” she stated.
Youth Leadership in Action
As the winner of GMB 2024, Queen Nihad has used her platform not only to celebrate culture but also to advance causes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her focus on climate action places her among a growing number of young African leaders leveraging advocacy, innovation, and grassroots engagement to address the climate crisis.
Her meeting with President Mahama underscores the vital role of collaboration between government, youth leaders, and civil society in tackling urgent challenges such as environmental degradation and climate change.
