Hours of heavy rainfall on Friday, September 12, left sections of the Nsawam–Pokuase highway under water, bringing traffic to a standstill and stranding commuters.
The floodwaters covered portions of the road, forcing some motorists to abandon their journeys while others attempted risky maneuvers through the submerged stretch. Passengers waiting at bus stops along the route were left frustrated, with many lamenting the recurring floods anytime the rains set in.
Residents blamed the incident on inadequate drainage and unchecked construction along waterways. They are appealing to city authorities to act swiftly to prevent future disruptions.
While no injuries or fatalities have been recorded, the flooding has renewed concerns about the capital’s perennial struggle with heavy rains.
