Trading activity on the Ghana Fixed Income Market (GFIM) declined in June 2025, according to the latest report from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). A total of 32,179,222 securities were traded, valued at GH¢128.29 million—a 19.04% drop in volume and a sharp 45.83% decline in value compared to June 2024.
On a year-to-date basis, cumulative trading volume stood at 150,930,767 shares valued at GH¢932.99 million. This represents a steep 74.18% decline in volume and a 5.23% drop in value relative to the same period last year.
Breakdown of the bond market activity for June showed that:
- Treasury Bills accounted for 32.90% of total volume traded,
- Government Notes & Bonds represented 42.99%,
- Bank of Ghana Bills contributed 18.12%, and
- Corporate Bonds made up the remaining 6.00%.
Equities Market Performance
Despite the downturn in the bond market, the equities market saw modest gains during the month.
The GSE Composite Index rose by 1.60%, closing at 6,248.48 points, which brings its year-to-date gain to 27.82%. The GSE Financial Stock Index also performed strongly, increasing by 4.94% to end June at 3,376.01 points, reflecting a year-to-date gain of 41.80%.

However, a few equities posted losses for the month, including:
- NewGold: -0.48%
- Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana): -1.68%
- Ecobank Transnational Inc.: -4.49%
- Cal Bank PLC: -5.17%
Outlook
While the bond market experienced a slowdown in both volume and value traded, the equities segment showed signs of resilience, buoyed by strong financial sector performance. Market analysts are closely watching macroeconomic indicators and policy direction for signals on future investor sentiment.
