Ghana is mourning the loss of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The announcement was made in a statement jointly issued by the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church, describing him as a man of God, an innovator, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist whose impact touched countless lives.
“With profound sorrow and deepest grief, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church announce the peaceful passing of Ghana’s beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist and industrialist,” the statement read.
Apostle Safo, affectionately known as the “Star of Africa”, was revered for his pioneering contributions to Ghana’s industrial and technological development, particularly through the Kantanka brand, which symbolized indigenous innovation and ingenuity. Beyond technology, he was celebrated for his philanthropy, his agricultural initiatives, and his role as a spiritual leader.
The family, in the statement signed by his daughter and former MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, described him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless.” They added that funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course, while appealing to the public to respect their privacy during this time of mourning.
Apostle Safo leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, resilience, and service to humanity, remembered not only as a man of God but also as one of Ghana’s greatest champions of indigenous innovation.
