A prominent regional chairman of the opposition New Patriotic party has been remanded in police custody for an additional two weeks.
Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Friday, which ruled that he should remain in custody to allow prosecutors more time to carry out further investigations.
Mr Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was first arrested on Monday, 8 September, by the Ghana Police Service. He has been held since then.
According to police, the arrest was made on grounds of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”
Authorities have not disclosed full details of the case, but the development has sparked widespread attention due to Mr Baffoe’s outspoken political profile and influence within the ruling party.
He is expected to reappear in court on 26 September 2025.
