Three senior officials of the McDan Group have been arrested by National Security operatives in connection with the recent demolition of a warehouse under construction along the Spintex Road in Accra.
Sources close to Citi News confirm that the officials were taken into custody shortly after the incident, which occurred on a site now marked as a “National Security Zone” by operatives stationed in the area.
The warehouse, which was partially completed at the time of the demolition, is believed to be linked to prominent Ghanaian businessman Dr. Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan. The exact reasons for the demolition and the subsequent arrests remain unclear, with authorities yet to provide official details.
Tensions flared at the site on Wednesday when heavily armed military personnel were seen assaulting a bystander during an interview with a JoyNews reporter. Eyewitnesses described the situation as chaotic, with several onlookers forced to flee the scene.
In a related development, JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony was reportedly detained by National Security officers while covering the aftermath of the demolition. The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain undisclosed as of the time of publication.
The McDan Group is expected to release an official statement addressing the situation in the coming days.
