Third Suspect in Immigration Officer’s Murder Case Dies After Brief Illness

A third suspect connected to the murder of an immigration officer Stephen King Amoah has died following a brief illness, a development that may complicate the ongoing high-profile investigation.

The death was confirmed by the deceased’s brother, Kwasi Amoako, who told Citi News he received the information from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer overseeing the case.

“Yesterday we went to court and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed on. I was told by the Police CID, the one who is in charge of the case. We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself,” Mr. Amoako said.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the identity of the deceased suspect, and the Ghana Police Service has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

Mr. Amoah, 38, was first reported missing on July 3 after leaving his home to meet a friend in the Ashongman Estate area of Accra. Six days later, his charred remains were discovered at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, igniting public outcry and prompting an intensive police manhunt.

The circumstances surrounding both the officer’s death and the suspect’s reported passing have drawn increased scrutiny, with Mr. Amoah’s family continuing to call for a comprehensive investigation.

The case has attracted national attention, placing pressure on law enforcement to deliver timely updates and ensure transparency in the probe.

As of Saturday, no formal charges had been announced, and details regarding the suspect’s illness or medical history remain unclear.
