Suzzy Pinamang, the senior high school student who survived a tragic shooting incident earlier this year, has been cleared to resume school following a successful medical review in London.
Pinamang, who underwent delicate eye surgery in June at Moorfields Eye Hospital, returned to the facility from September 10 to 16 for a scheduled follow-up. Doctors confirmed that her recovery is progressing well, noting significant improvements in her vision and overall healing. They, however, advised continued routine check-ups and protective care to ensure long-term recovery.
Plans are currently underway to enrol her in a new school, with full support from the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation, to aid her rehabilitation and education.
Earlier this year, Pinamang’s plight gained national attention after a viral video highlighted her severe eye injury. Business mogul and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama stepped in to cover the full cost of her medical care, travel, and accommodation. She was accompanied to the UK by her brother and Rafik Mahama, Special Aide to Mr. Mahama.
Speaking to the media after her latest review, Pinamang expressed gratitude for the support she has received.
“This has not been an easy road, but I thank God for life and for the doctors who have given me hope again. I am especially grateful to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, who has truly been God-sent, and to everyone who supported me with prayers and kindness,” she said.
She also extended appreciation to the Ghana High Commission in London for their assistance, singling out Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as Ambassador-in-situ and Chief of State Protocol Gustav Kwaku Sefe Dovlo, for their roles in facilitating her treatment arrangements.
