Parliament has unanimously approved all four of President John Mahama’s Deputy Ministerial nominees, marking the final step in a swift confirmation process that saw little resistance from lawmakers.
The approvals follow the Appointments Committee’s report, which recommended the nominees based on their qualifications, experience, and performance during a vetting held on July 25. According to the Committee, all four demonstrated the competence and readiness required for their respective roles.
The newly confirmed Deputy Ministers are:
- Dorcas Affo-Toffey – Deputy Minister for Transport
- James Gyakye Quayson – Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
- Mohammed Adams Sukparu – Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations
- Prof. Grace Ayensu-Danquah – Deputy Minister for Health
Their nominations were first announced by the President on July 9, with the names formally submitted to Parliament through the Speaker, in line with constitutional requirements.
“This approval shows a strong consensus and confidence in the President’s choices,” said Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister in Charge of Government Communication.
With their confirmations now sealed, the new deputy ministers are expected to assume their portfolios immediately, joining a government facing high expectations on issues ranging from healthcare to digital innovation.
