The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set up an Ad Hoc Committee to monitor and safeguard the integrity of the campaign process ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The decision was taken after a meeting with the party’s presidential aspirants on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 15, 2025, and signed by the Chairman of the Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, the Council said the committee will ensure a fair, transparent, and decorous campaign consistent with the values and traditions of the NPP.
The committee, chaired by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, has Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Ato Hamilton, Kwadwo Afari, and Mark Opoku as members. Its mandate includes monitoring the conduct of aspirants and their followers, reviewing petitions related to hate speech or abusive language, and recommending measures—including disciplinary action where necessary—to preserve the party’s unity and image.
The Council of Elders urged aspirants, their campaign teams, and supporters to fully cooperate with the committee.
“The Party remains committed to conducting a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens our unity and readiness for the national elections,” the statement concluded.
