The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency, effective today, Friday, August 22, 2025.
This follows the passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who tragically lost his life in the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight others.
According to a statement signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, on Wednesday, August 20, nomination forms will be issued and received at the NDC Northern Regional Office. The process will run until Sunday, August 24.
The statement further explained that all aspirants will be provided with a certified delegates’ list after the vetting exercise. Nomination forms have been priced at GH₵5,000, while the filing fee is set at GH₵40,000. Female aspirants and persons with disabilities, however, will enjoy a 50% concession on the filing fee.
Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will not contest the Tamale Central by-election, in honor of the late MP, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
