Mobile money transactions in Ghana totaled GHS 323.2 billion in June 2025, according to the Bank of Ghana’s
latest Summary of Economic and Financial Data released for July.
Although this reflects a 10.2% decline from May’s record-high figure of GHS 360 billion, the sector continues to show robust annual growth.
Compared to June 2024, when the total transaction value stood at GHS 224 billion, the June 2025 figure represents a year-on-year increase of GHS 99.2 billion, or approximately 44.3%. This highlights the sustained momentum in Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem.
In terms of transaction volume, June saw 735 million transactions, down 7.7% from the 796 million recorded in May. However, year-on-year, this marks a 14.1% increase, up from 644 million transactions in June 2024.
The number of registered mobile money accounts reached 76.4 million, with 24.5 million active users during the month under review.
Additionally, the float balance representing the total value of funds held in mobile wallets climbed to GHS 28.9 billion, further underscoring consumer trust in mobile based financial services.
Despite the month-on-month dip in both value and volume, analysts view the continued year-over-year growth as a clear indicator of strong, sustained demand for mobile money in Ghana’s rapidly digitizing economy.
