Ghana’s Parliamentary Minority has formally requested an audience with President John Dramani Mahama to deliver a petition outlining what it describes as “issues of great public concern,” signaling mounting disquiet over recent national developments.
The request, dated July 17 and signed by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, was submitted to the Presidency last week. The caucus has proposed to present the petition in person at the Jubilee House on Thursday, July 24.
“I write on behalf of Members of the Minority Caucus to respectfully notify you that we have arranged to present a formal petition to Your Excellency at the Jubilee House,” the letter states.
While the specifics of the petition have not been disclosed, the communication suggests rising frustration among opposition lawmakers, who are calling for what they describe as “fair-minded leadership and definitive action” from the President.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh also expressed confidence in Mahama’s willingness to address the concerns outlined, hinting at a belief within the Minority that dialogue remains possible despite deepening political divisions.
