President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two candidates to serve as Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Ashanti Region, as part of efforts to strengthen local governance and administrative leadership.
In a statement issued Thursday, July 17, and signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the President named Ibrahim Issahaq as nominee for the Atwima Mponua District and Yakubu Issifu for the Asante Mampong Municipality.
The nominations are subject to approval by the respective local assemblies.
If confirmed, both officials will be tasked with overseeing local administration, coordinating development planning, and ensuring the implementation of national policies at the district and municipal levels.
The appointments are part of a broader national strategy to reinforce grassroots governance and accelerate policy execution across Ghana’s decentralized government framework.
