How BECE Aggregates Are Calculated for 2025 Senior High School Placement

The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat has outlined the method for calculating 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) aggregates for senior high school admissions.

Officials explained that a candidate’s aggregate is derived from six subjects: the four core papers—English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies—plus the two best-performing elective subjects.

The calculation formula is therefore:

English + Mathematics + Integrated Science + Social Studies + [best two other subjects].

While aggregates are an important factor, the CSSPS emphasized that raw scores remain the key determinant in the placement process.

In a notice signed by Ghana Education Service (GES) Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, parents, students, and teachers were reminded that the CSSPS portal is now live for candidates to confirm their school choices.

The portal can be accessed at www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login, with a 24-hour support service available through the “Message” option to address concerns or discrepancies.

“The portal will remain active until September 8, 2025. We encourage all candidates to log in and confirm their selections before the deadline,” the statement noted.

GES further encouraged the public to share feedback to help enhance the placement system.
