Helicopter Crash a Heartbreaking National Tragedy – Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed profound sorrow over the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers of state and six others on Wednesday, August 6.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia extended his deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the nation at large.

Describing the incident as a “heart-wrenching national tragedy,” Dr. Bawumia honoured the memory of the deceased, noting that they died in active service to Ghana.

“These brave men paid the ultimate price in service to our motherland, leaving behind a nation gripped with pain and shock,” he wrote.

Dr. Bawumia revealed that he had personally known several of the individuals who lost their lives, and their sudden passing had left him with a deep sense of loss.

“I know most of the deceased personally, and I share in the heartbreak of their untimely departure under such devastating circumstances,” he stated.

On behalf of his wife, Samira Bawumia, their family, and the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Bawumia joined the rest of Ghana in mourning, calling for unity and collective prayer in this difficult time.

“May the good Lord grant the bereaved families, the government, and the people of Ghana strength and healing during this time of immense grief,” he added.
