GIMPA Extends Tenure of Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu as Dean of Law Faculty

The Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has renewed the appointment of Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu as Dean of the Faculty of Law for a second and final three-year term.

Dr. Agyeman-Budu, who first assumed the position in September 2022, will now continue in office until August 31, 2028. His reappointment was based on recommendations from the Institute’s Renewal Committee and was subsequently approved by the Appointment and Promotion Committee.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the Institute, Dr. Victoria M. Kunbuor, confirmed that his new term takes effect from September 1, 2025.

At age 37, Dr. Agyeman-Budu remains the youngest academic ever to hold the deanship at GIMPA. He is the fifth person, and fourth substantive academic, to lead the Faculty of Law. Prior to becoming Dean, he served as a senior lecturer and headed several law centers within the institution.

His teaching areas include constitutional law, international human rights, humanitarian law, and intellectual property law, while his research interests span criminal law, international criminal justice, business and human rights, and legal ethics.

Beyond his academic duties, Dr. Agyeman-Budu directs the African Centre of International Criminal Justice and the African Centre on Law and Ethics at GIMPA. He also coordinates the Judicial Service of Ghana’s internship and clerkship programme, which connects law students with courts nationwide.
