Ghana Gas Board Meets Karpowership to Strengthen Energy Collaboration

The Governing Board of the Ghana National Gas Company has held discussions with management of Karpowership as part of efforts to deepen operational ties and improve service delivery within Ghana’s energy sector.

The meeting, held during a one-day working tour of the Western Region on Friday,July 18, was led by Board Chairman Kofi Totobi Quakyi. It formed part of a broader familiarisation initiative aimed at aligning Ghana Gas’s operations with strategic policy goals.

The delegation visited the company’s Takoradi office, where board members engaged staff on workforce alignment, policy direction, and operational challenges. Concerns raised included logistical constraints and welfare issues, particularly at the Takoradi Distribution Station.

The board also paid a courtesy call on Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs. Discussions focused on regional development concerns, with an emphasis on energy infrastructure and social impact in host communities.

A key highlight of the tour was a high-level meeting between Ghana Gas and Karpowership management. Ghana Gas supplies approximately 80 to 90 million standard cubic feet of gas daily to the 470-megawatt power barge, which contributes about 12% of power to Ghana’s national grid.

In a joint statement, Karpowership praised Ghana Gas for its reliability and prompt fuel delivery. Ghana Gas CEO, Judith Adjobah Blay, reaffirmed the company's commitment to sustaining high standards to ensure a stable power supply.

Board Chairman Totobi Quakyi reiterated the board’s focus on operational efficiency and staff welfare, pledging continued reforms to enhance performance across the organisation.
