Ghana’s Education Service (GES) has dismissed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School in Kumasi, Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, amid allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a female student.
The decision follows the circulation of a viral video on social media purportedly showing Mr. Aidoo in a compromising situation. In response, the GES issued a formal statement Monday announcing that Mr. Aidoo has been removed from his position and barred from accessing the school’s premises pending the outcome of an investigation.
“Management views this matter with utmost seriousness,” the statement, signed by GES Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, said. “In line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care, Mr. Aidoo has already been removed from office.”
The education authority added that it is pursuing a full investigation and assured stakeholders that any disciplinary action will adhere strictly to the GES code of conduct.
The case has sparked public concern over student safety and teacher accountability in Ghana’s public school system. In its statement, the GES reiterated its zero-tolerancep stance on misconduct, emphasizing its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and child protection.
