GES Clarifies: Single-Track System Not Fully Restored

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that the 2025/2026 academic calendar has not fully returned to the single-track system, contrary to reports circulating in some media outlets.

In a statement issued on its official Facebook page, the Service explained that the new calendar makes provisions for both single-track and double-track schools, as indicated in the schedule released last week.

“The 2025/2026 academic year officially begins on Saturday, 18th October 2025, when all first-year students are expected to report,” the statement noted.

According to the timetable, the academic year will conclude on 21st August 2026 for single-track schools, while double-track institutions will close on 4th September 2026.

GES Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, stressed that the clarification was necessary to provide accurate information to students, parents, and the general public.
