Afrobeats continues to take center stage globally, with African artistes seizing the spotlight at some of football’s most prestigious events.

From sold-out stadiums to massive television audiences across continents, Nigerian musicians are showcasing the continent’s rich sound and cultural flair on football’s grandest platforms.

In this GhanaWeb listicle, we spotlight four Nigerian artistes — Tems, Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema — who have delivered memorable performances at major football events.

Tems – 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

Tems made history as the first African artiste to perform during a FIFA Club World Cup final halftime show.

The Nigerian singer delivered a stirring rendition of her hit single Love Me Jeje at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, during the final match between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on July 13, 2025.

Tems performed alongside Colombian superstar J Balvin and American rapper Doja Cat, marking a major moment for Afrobeats on the global stage.

Rema – 2023 Ballon d’Or Ceremony

Rema brought electrifying energy to the 2023 Ballon d’Or awards held on October 30, 2023, in Paris.

Performing his global hit Calm Down, the Afrobeats sensation celebrated Manchester City’s win as Club of the Season.

Rema made headlines when he left the stage mid-performance to greet top footballers like Erling Haaland and Vinícius Jr., adding a personal touch to a globally televised moment.

Burna Boy – 2023 UEFA Champions League Final

Grammy Award-winning artiste Burna Boy performed live at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final on June 10, 2023, in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Nigerian Afrofusion star thrilled fans with performances of Last Last and It’s Plenty at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, ahead of the clash between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

He was joined by Brazilian pop star Anitta, bringing a vibrant African-Latin mix to one of football’s most-watched events.

Davido – 2022 FIFA World Cup Final

Davido etched his name in history books as the first Nigerian artiste to feature on a FIFA World Cup official soundtrack.

He performed Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on December 18, 2022, in Doha, Qatar.

The performance took place just before the iconic showdown between Argentina and France, watched by over a billion viewers worldwide.
