Italian energy giant ENI has completed a significant upgrade to Ghana’s gas infrastructure, raising the country’s daily gas output from 245 million to 270 million standard cubic feet, according to Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
The Ministry described the upgrade as a key step towards securing a reliable and sustainable energy supply for the nation, with the additional capacity expected to support electricity generation and contribute to economic growth.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry praised ENI and stakeholders in the power sector for what it called their “dedicated efforts” in delivering the project. It also acknowledged the patience of citizens during the upgrade period, thanking Ghanaians for their support.
“Your support is invaluable as we work together to build a brighter energy future,” said Richmond Rockson, spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry.
The government said the increased gas supply would play a vital role in ensuring consistent power delivery across the country, while reinforcing its commitment to energy security and national development.
Strategic partnerships such as this, the Ministry added, are essential to achieving Ghana’s long-term energy and industrial goals.
